malware

We had a letter saying a they had detected malware on a device using our network. Quite vague, but the threat was they could cut us off. We've used c-cleaner to scan our pcs, and reset the router. Any other ideas?

AFAIK the letter emphasises applicable sections of their Acceptable Use Policy. Do you think in trying to convey the urgency of the matter it is more menacing that informative?

Having followed the advice given in the letter:

  • if further notices are received
    ― or ―
  • you are still concerned by the issue

The trouble is VM are extremely hard to contact, so it's difficult to know if our actions have worked. So we could be cut off. Yes the letter read like a threat.

The letter is one we send out if we know a customers devises may have become infected with malware etc 

I can see you have followed the advice given in the letter 

This is just a way or letting our customers know 

You are safe now and no services will be cut off at all
