email confirming device using internet may be infected with malware

I have received the above email.  It says that my mailbox was recently locked due to suspicious activity.

In fact this event happened over 4 weeks ago now and I rang virgin media to ask why I couldn't access the email account.  They had no clue what had gone on but basically reset my password which obviously fixed the problem.

My question is why does this email take so long to come through.  Obviously if it was correct 4 weeks have passed without the appropriate steps being taken as recommended in the email I received today?

it would be odd that the very act the recipient is notified of precludes them from taking notice. Any chance this a case of the primary account being notified of an issue with a secondary account?
