I just had a call from removed from "Virgin Media".
The caller told me that I had lots of errors being reported to Virgin Media from my router, and wanted to know how many devices I had attached. I didn't tell her that, instead asking if she was really from Virgin Media.
She also insisted that I was not getting my full speed on my router.
She then asked me to go to my computer, and asked me what make of computer it was. I told her that this sounds like a scam, and she hung up.
(I've shortened the story a bit.)
As I understand, Virgin Media never makes this sort of unsolicited call. Am I right?

You are correct VM do not make unsolicited technical calls.
The call you received was a scam and the phone number either made up or belonging to an innocent third party.
The moderators will redact the number.
I'm a Very Insightful Person, I'm here to share knowledge, I don't work for Virgin Media, I'm a VM customer. There are no guarantees that my advice will work. Please read the FAQs
