Virgin phone call Re disconnection

Just received a phone supposedly from Virgin saying as my internet security was ‘weak’ they were disconnecting me. I asked them why they felt they could do that, she told ‘she could’

I was very suspicious so hung up. Did 1471 so have the Phone number.

Anyone else experienced this please?

I am an NHS worker who has to cover some of my job from home 24/7 so need phone and internet access

Re: Virgin phone call Re disconnection

Hello

It is a pretty well known scam, VM don't call you they would send an email or letter telling of any security risks.

Re: Virgin phone call Re disconnection

Hey @SLK16

Sorry to hear that you have been called by a scammer trying to solicit information from you.

As @DJ_Shadow1966 stated this is a well known scam and we would not contact you over phone or threaten to disconnect you for that reason.

Was the call on your landline or mobile?

Regards

Re: Virgin phone call Re disconnection

Hi Steven-L
Thank you for your reply.
I always make a Practice of asking who the caller thinks they are talking too anyway and if they can’t tell me my name r any details then I am immediately suspicious.

much appreciated.

Re: Virgin phone call Re disconnection

That's the best way to do it @SLK16, you can never be too careful these days.

I would suggest that if somebody calls through claiming to be from Virgin to ask something from your account that only some with access would such as the date that you last called us on or a part of your package like TV service that you have or broadband speed that a staff member would know.
