Virgin Media Data breach

Hi,

Has anyone recently experienced data breach with virgin media as in your number was mapped to different account , you receive a message on technical engineer visit with options (reply fixed or continue) and if you reply fixed , you get a call from a random person informing you are cancelling Virgin Media engineer visit?

Re: Virgin Media Data breach

If you in the business of telephone or text fraud it is super easy to forge the Called Id or the SMS sender name.

Which is why banks always say even if it looks like your local branch phone number - don't trust the caller.

Re: Virgin Media Data breach

oh ok . what about when virgin media makes a call to verify about business/person associated with number to determine how technical engineer visit is getting cancelled? Basically , I got a text from virgin media and a call from virgin media number (customer care service , normally I do call this number for any issue/0345 454 1111). Do you mean all these were hacked for targeted attack? 🙂

Re: Virgin Media Data breach

Don't reply to unexpected text messages..

Replying confirms to the sender that you are there and invites them to continue the scam !

Re: Virgin Media Data breach

Hi,

I am still waiting for a response from virgin media team.

Hope they reply soon.

I have all the evidence intact if there will be need to put a claim for data breach.

I will decide on next step when there is response from virgin media.
