I have just had a call from someone called Sam from Virgin Media, phoned from 0800 183 6417

can you please confirm this is a legitimate number 

it was relating to potential new business as I was looking at the deals online today for a tv broadband etc 

can someone please confirm urgently

Could be, could be not. It’s easy to spoof caller Id so you should NEVER trust it.
