TV License phishing renewal Scam

Just received this email today. if you get something similar don't click on any links

I thought I'd just check on the official web site ๐Ÿ˜ƒ In case something was amiss.  It's not my TV license number on the email

Always worthwhile checking. I wonder if it will fool anyone who gets a similar email

Re: TV License phishing renewal Scam

Indeed.

"You must renew now, qucklyโ€ฆ", "...move home...",  "no fee due" (not once but twice)???  Then it says your licence is already valid 'til 2020.Smiley Tongue

I wonder why they're asking to renew when there's no payment due. Do they want payment or not? Oops.Smiley Indifferent

Re: TV License phishing renewal Scam

Yeah well, I suppose to be sure, they sent me one out this morning by Royal Mail ๐Ÿ˜„

But The BBC are not giving away free TV licenses to the over 75's next year, unless they are getting Pension Credit  ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป

Re: TV License phishing renewal Scam

My thoughts on the TV Licence are detailed here: https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Virgin-TV/TV-licence-less-package/td-p/4019015/page/2

There also seems to be quite a lot of public support for this too, not just famous types in the above post.  Recent political changes may just see it achieved.

Re: TV License phishing renewal Scam

Hi, I've recently received a very similar email and I almost fell for it not becoming suspicious until after replying to it with some details. I'm worried that I downloaded the attachment that came with it but cannot find it in either my Files or Downloads on my android device. Does anyone have any help or advice on what I should do? I have downloaded AVG and run scans.

Thanks
