Suspicious call

Received a call today from 03454541111 saying they are from virgin complaints team.i had no reason to doubt that as I had indeed made a complaint 2 weeks ago online regarding the difficulty getting through to someone on the phone or online chat to discuss my contract(absolute nightmare!!).

The caller was very difficult to understand no matter how hard i tried.He asked for the 3 digits from my password(password has 6). I gave them to him and he said incorrect. He then asked for different digits. I refused to give them as then I would have given him the entire password! I then ended the call.

Does this sound suspicious?? !

100% suspicious & you were wise to not give the three characters asked for.
Seems these scammers have see the advertisement warning of the same scam of asking for two numbers from a PIN then stating they’re wrong so asking for the other two numbers & used it for their own.

That is our customer services team but if we ask for three characters we wouldn't then ask for a different three characters so that is very odd. 

 

Did you get the agents name?

@Emily_G you can't use a caller ID as proof of idenity.
I spent all day every day spoofing numbers (its part of my job).

NEVER give any account details to anyone that calls. Even if they seem to be from the company.

No i didn't unfortunately. 

Its a shame as was expecting a call back regarding my complaint so if the call was genuine then im sure it would show up on my account records.
