Strange phone calls

This morning I had 3 phone calls supposedly from Virgin Media, saying that they have had reports about my internet being slow and that there are problems with my system and that they need to do a thorough check. I hung up each time and checked the phone numbers, which were all different even though it sounded like the same person calling me each time. I queried it as I haven’t had any problems

Re: Strange phone calls

You did the right thing. Complete scam. Not VM phoning. They would never do this. Hung up each time. The numbers are spoofed.

I'm a Very Insightful Person, I'm here to share knowledge, I don't work for Virgin Media. Learn more

These were scam calls. You did the right thing in hanging up on them and not engaging with them.

The numbers which appear on caller ID are usually fake and typically change for each scam call they make. The aim of the scammers is normally to convince you that you have a problem with your computer/broadband and then allow them to have remote access to your computer. From there they will try to gain access to your internet banking with a view to stealing money from you.

Have a look at these web links which will provide you with more detailed information about this
