Spam Call

Today (19/1/23) at 0915 I received a call from a lady with a Far Eastern accent saying there was a problem with my broadband, it was obviously a scam to I hung up.I did a 1471 and the number came up as 01782[MOD EDIT: Removed].I rang this number back and spoke with a very confused lady in this country who has no contact with virgin or anyone else.It is concerning that scammers came apparently use any number at random.Anyone else come accross this

Yes, it is now a common scammer ploy to use real numbers of innocent people as their fake caller ID. The real number adds authenticity to the scammers' calls. Often they match the dialling code of the fake caller ID with the area code of the potential victim being called.

It is not a good idea to reproduce (any of) the incoming numbers on here. Some may be fake and some may be real. This is a public forum and you have posted someone's real number up for all to see. Moderators will remove it.
