My Nan has rang me in a bit of a state this morning as she’s had two phone calls of VM stating that her internet will be cut of for 3 weeks as she hasn’t been answering phone calls or something as she couldn’t understand them properly. The person she spoke to on the phone was very rude and it has unsurprisingly upset her. She’s now worried as she’s with VM for broadband, phone and TV.
I’d just like to know if this is a scam and can tell her to just ignore them as I’d very much hope VM would contact customers by post if they couldn’t get through via phone.
Sadly, these are scam calls and there are a lot of them going on. Read through the 'Home Phone' and 'Security Matters' forums where they appear very regularly. If there were any security issues with her connection, VM would write a letter to the account holder.
Consider getting a call screening/blocking device or phone which will screen out the scam calls and prevent them ringing your grandmother's phone.
