Scam phone call?

I just had a call on my landline from someone claiming to be from Virign, telling me that my internet speed had been alternating between slow and fast for the last two weeks and that I had some dangerous malware. I assumed it was a scam, but they were persistent, passing me to a "senior supervisor" and continuing to press when I said that I didn't believe they were genuine. In the end I hung up and they haven't called back. Just wanted to check that this wasn't actually genuine?

Re: Scam phone call?

This was a scam attempt. As they have now made contact and spoken to you, you can expect to receive further scam attempts, so beware of this possibility. Best approach is just to hang up on them.
