Scam call?

Hi all

i received a call from a Uk mobile number today, they were from the customer loyalty team and offered a bundle for a really good price. I didn’t give any bank details but gave home address and dob.

the guy claimed to be working from home due to covid19 hence the mobile number.

can anyone confirm if this was a legit call? He said I would receive an email confirming but I haven’t

thanks

tom

Re: Scam call?

Very much doubt that anyone can give you a definitive answer. If you have their name and VM ID number it might be possible by one of the VM team on the board, but at the present time I would expect it to be very difficult.

A quick search strongly suggests that number is on the O2 network, but then again probably not all Virgin staff have Virgin Mobiles. In any event scammers always falsify the number that appears in Caller Display so you cannot assume anything from it.

Personally, I never give any personal information to anyone who phones me out of the blue whoever they claim to be.

Re: Scam call?

I have also received a call from this number 07921 903714 the day after I cancelled my package offering a cheaper deal. This was mid June 2020. The person stated his name was Graham and also that he was working from home due to Covid-19.

Virgin reinstated my package but have not changed anything into the new deal that was offered. There are also no notes on my record for the deal that was offered.

I have contacted virgin a number of times about this. Live chat operator stated it would have been a virgin representative as the contract had been reinstated but having spoke to them and persons from the specialist team, noone could offer any more information and have no record of the deal that was offered.

Has anyone got any more information on this?

I have concerns regarding data breaches as how would the person know to call me the day after I cancelled my virgin contract? Its also a possibility that they have lost our personal information to scammers who are calling people up. In which case its only a matter of time until vulnerable people are passing across their banks details over the phone.

Im currently awaiting a call back from the complaints department.
