Phonecall re broadband speed - scam?

Hi,

I had a phonecall from someone supposedly from Virgin saying that my router had been sending speed warnings about slow speed to their system and he wanted to sort it out for me. He then asked me to open my laptop and confirm I was online at which point he gave a rather unconvincing answer regarding a security ID when I asked about security...

Is this likely to be a scam or am I being paranoid?

Thanks,

Rob.

Absolutely 100% was a scam.

You didn't give them any information or access to your laptop did you?

!00% scam.
No doubt they’d ask you to open event viewer & show you all the red Xs as proof there’s a problem, then request access to your pc.

Thankfully didn’t let them get that far.
