Phishing phone call using Amazon prime renewal. Press keypad 1 instruction.

  • How do I minimize damage from phishing scam (pressed key 1 in call purporting to be about Amazon Prime renewal)? Assume it takes premium rate charge using Virgin media account? Thanks.

Re: Phishing phone call using Amazon prime renewal. Press keypad 1 instruction.

You can log into 'My Virgin Media' and see if you have any unexpected call charges pending and showing outside of your call package allowances (may be a delay between time of call and time it actually appears on online billing).

Hopefully you did no more than what you have described, otherwise you may need to take further remedial action to protect yourself.

AFAIK it is not possible for an incoming call to initial an outgoing (chargeable) call by asking the recipient to press key ℕ; do keep an eye on your bill and update this post if I am mistaken.
