Letter received about possible malware infection

Tuning in

I have received yet another letter stating that a device using my internet connection MAY BE infected with malware.

I have scanned all devices on my network and all are clean.  There is no information about what malware has been detected and all it states is that a third party has notified Virgin Media.

I am an IT Specialist working in the Finance sector so know quite a bit about these things.

How am I supposed to identify what is at fault with no other information other than a device may be infected?

I do have a NAS server on my home network which I can access from my phone or iPad externally.  Is this causing the 'alert'?

Could someone help identify what I am supposed to look at as the letter is quite threatening when it states my service could be suspended due to this activity!

We wouldn't be able to escalate it with the team as if it has been identified to something like this - for security reasons the relevant would be sent out.

Sorry to bother you Ryan, but is there any chance of the above sentence being translated into meaningful English? It's just that as it stands it does seem to be a (semi)random list of random words!

But to 'Robl216', (oh I can't '@' anyone anymore now can I? I need to expend some effort and time finding a workaround now, don't I?)) honestly, ignore the emails, in fact do yourself a favour and setup a rule to move any similar messages directly to the bin so you aren't bothered by them again. Now more than happy to be proven wrong but I suspect that despite the dire warnings (there purely to cover themselves and keep the lawyers happy), VM have never, ever actually terminated anyone's connection - and they never will!

Best wishes

John

Thanks John.

I just want to see what is being detected and try and work out where it is coming from.

I like to know what is going on with my network.
