Letter 12 July. Device may be infected with malware

Charleys
Tuning in

Apparently a device using my Internet connection may be infected with malware. Logged on to my account as advised and tried to turn on the Web Safe protection, I kept getting messages that my selections hadn't been saved. How do I get the free protection or is the only option to pay.

Don't use their free software its rubbish.

Go online a download a program called malwarebytes. You get premium free for a week.

Once installed run a scan and let it remove anything suspect, reboot your pc and you'll be good to go.

I've tried that but the message on the page says that work is being done on the site. I'll ring the phone number given. I've run a scan on everything and my laptop is now showing that there may be some malware, will wait for the scsn to finish. Thankyou for your reply.

Consider keeping a note of the malware found as it can help when assessing the risks posed.

Thanks for replying. After a full 6 hour scan nothing was reported. I've looked in the quarantine section incase the computer had put something in there but it was empty. Going to phone Virgin. Wish me luck.

If the notification did not name the malware detected and scanning revealed nothing then realistically there is little more that can be done.
