Recent topics have mentioned scam-like calls from people, claiming to be from VM, and offering heavily discounted services. Some of these do seem to be phishing attempts to obtain personal info and/or account info. In one recent topic a customer was roped into a scam involving supply of a mobile phone via their account details.

The moderators have removed the number you listed (either it was a fake or may have been a mobile belonging to a VM sales person).
Simple answer, when someone rings you out of the blue claiming to be from VM, is that you have no way of telling if they are genuine or not (particularly because of the scammers' ability to fake caller ID's to look like real VM numbers). If you do engage with them and/or give them any info at all you do so with a level of risk attached.
If you do want to speak to VM for any reason, best method is to make an outbound call yourself to one of the recognised VM contact numbers.
Sometimes the VM forum team can check outbound sales records to see if you have been called. One of the VM forum team should reply here within a few days.
