Failed payment scam

I received an email this evening telling me that

The payment for your latest VirginMedia bill failed. It appears that some of the billing details associated with your account have expired.

Your service is pending disconnection on:

20 March 2018

To avoid interruption of service we strongly recommend that you log in and update your billing details.

 

I logged in via the Virgin website and my account shows no such failure, so I'm assuming this is a scam?

If you check the email address  ( not just the header email address it shows) that it’s come from, what does it say?

 

youve done the right thing to check though, going to the VM site yourself (not through the email links) and checking.

Same for me. All looks convincing, but was sent at 1.05 a.m. today, which doesn't feel right. Have ignored, particularly as I know all recent payments made successfully.

its a scam. hover over the link in the email were its asking you to go to update and see if its a virginmedia.com address

Yep definitely a scam....same dodgy email reported here too http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Security-matters/billing-warning/m-p/3673769

Will make sure the Security team are made aware.

This is doing the rounds again I think, we received one of these emails on Saturday warning us that we would be disconnected on Monday 30th!  I checked my account as I was sure we had made all payments, and there was no issue on my account on the VM website.  Is there an email address to forward the scam email to so VM are aware?
