My email account has been hacked - I discovered that I wasn't receiving any emails even when sending tests from other accounts i control. Logging in via a browser I found that all incoming mail was being forwarded to a 3rd party, and then auto rules being run to delete all incoming mail.
The fraudster has then reset my amazon account password and gone on a spending spree, plus potentially other sites but i can't confirm given the emails have been deleted.
I spoke to VM on the phone, and was told I needed to complete a form on http://netreport.virginmedia.com/netreport - this seems however to be used when reporting someone using a VM account to do bad things rather than account takeover?
How do i properly report this, and are VM liable for any of the fraud that has occurred?
Thanks, I have followed those steps but it doesn't give any guidance on how to report it.
I'm sure the issue is the appalling level of security that can be applied with passwords here - only max 10 digits, no special characters, must start with a letter. A brute force attack wouldn't take long...
