Email Scam or Genuine

I have received and email from eq-rtns-noreply@virginmedia.co.uk stating that they have teams in the area and can collect old kit.

We have just changed our packages and had new equipment installed and not yet received the boxes to return the equipment.

I am always hesitant when such emails come through and wanted confirmation as to whether this is in fact a genuine VM service or a well timed scam email.

The email asks me to send a text message to +447860041xxx, I have attached a screenshot of the email.VM Email 16-11-22.jpg

Hi @RobHall,

Thanks for your post, and a warm welcome to our Community Forums.

I'm sorry to hear there is some hesitance with this email. I can confirm that this is genuine. We have a dedicated team on hand to collect equipment from a property when the services with us have been disconnected.

Rest assured, you won't need to send a text to the number advised. You may receive a text/email from this number, to book a suitable date/time for a collection.

Cheers,

Reece - Forum Team

One way to make sure is to compare the serial number quoted with the one on your device. If they are the same all is ok, because it’s highly unlikely someone other than VM could get the boxes serial number.
