Hi, been getting calls from a number starting +44 800, Indian/Asian bloke, terrible line so can't make out all he's saying. I've checked the number online and some say it's a Virgin number others say not with that format. Calls were to my mobile but I don't have mobile package with Virgin. Any ideas if number would be genuine please?

Impossible to answer, unfortunately, due to the scammers' abilities to fake caller IDs.
If the caller claims to be from VM 'technical support' and has detected 'hackers accessing your router' or other similar fanciful stories, then these are always scams as VM does not make unsolicited tech support calls in that way.
If you do not want to receive marketing calls from VM, you can opt out of all marketing via 'My Virgin Media'.
If your mobile phone has such a feature, can you block the unwanted calls that way?

Hi goslow, thanks for quick reply. It was impossible to make out what he was saying as it sounded like underwater chat, feed back etc. I'm just unsure if +44 800...... As opposed to 0800 would be correct. I have blocked that number anyway now but I expect there will be other numbers popping up.
