Direct Debit set up fraudulently

Hi, I've noticed a direct debit going to Virgin Media from my account, that I didn't set up. I've contacted my bank and cancelled the DD, and they've told me to contact Virgin Media and get details of how, when and why the DD was set up. I don't have an account with Virgin Media so I'm hitting a dead end with the phone numbers I've tried. Can anyone help with this please?

Do Virgin have people who work for them who have major difficulties in setting up a direct debit when a customer asks for it? I've had the same issue for 8 months. It seems ignored though! Is it right to just ignore this?
