Child safe not working

Tuning in

I have enabled child safe and even added some explicit sites to the deny list on the account page, however these sites are not blocked and are still accessible.

I have the Virgin media hub running in Modem mode and a 3rd party router attached that is serving the WiFi to my house.


Please help.

Sorry to hear that your child safe is not blocking the sites that you've requested. 

Can you try to see if the sites are also blocked with our hub in router mode?

Hello Carley.

Reverting back to router mode isn't the easiest task as I am using an external Router due to the Wifi not being good enough on the Virgin Router to reach my upstairs computer room.

Why would running in router mode make a difference when I set childsafe setting on virgin media account page online?  I have checked my Router and it's getting the IP and DNS entries automatically from Virgin Media.



My apologies to hear that the WiFi coverage in the home was not met by our router alone. We do offer WiFi pods to help any customers that have coverage concerns. 

You can find more information on our pods here if needed. 


We would need to remove all 3rd party equipment when running checks to ensure that we can support further fully. We are unable to support with any 3rd party devices unfortunately.

Sorry for the long delay in replying. I was waiting for a convenient time to move my hub out of Modem mode.  It is now running in Router mode and ChildSafe is still not working. 

I still have my external Router connected which I use for Wifi Access but as before the DNS servers set on the router are being obtained by DHCP from the Virgin Media Router.

Any more thoughts?
