Call from a mobile claiming to be virgin media loyalty team employee

Hi, I ended my contract on Thursday 2nd July with Virgin Media for the tv, broadband and phone line. On the following day I received a phone call from a lady named April who was very pleasant and I believe she said she was from the loyalty team.

She told me she was working from home and doesn't have access to all my details, my concern is how am I meant to trust someone when we unfortunately live in a world where scammers are out there everyday.

Her mobile number is [REMOVED].

Can someone please confirm if this is a legit virgin media employer/mobile number? the lady was offering me deals that I am interested in but I am not going to give any information until I know it's a verified virgin media employee.

Thanks,

Re: Call from a mobile claiming to be virgin media loyalty team employee

Hi joshuapodmore19,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community.

I know a lot of colleagues, myself included are home working and as such some do have mobiles. My understanding is, they are supposed to with-hold the number though I cannot speak for every department.

What security were they asking please?

Kind regards,

Re: Call from a mobile claiming to be virgin media loyalty team employee

Thanks for the quick response John,

They didn't ask for any, just she said I can see you recently chose to disconnect your package and wanted to know the reason why...

It does sound like one of our outbound teams I'll be honest. If they asked for account number (bank account number) then it'd definitely be a no.

Re: Call from a mobile claiming to be virgin media loyalty team employee

I have also received a call from this number 07921 903714 the day after I cancelled my package, offering a cheaper deal. This was mid June 2020. The person stated his name was Graham from retentions department and also that he was working from home due to Covid-19.

He knew that I had cancelled my package the previous day and offered a deal that I accepted.

Virgin reinstated my package but have not changed anything into the new deal that was offered. There are also no notes on my record for the deal that was offered.

No bank details were passed but I confirmed details about full name address and password information and discussed packages.

I have contacted virgin a number of times about this. Live chat operator stated it would have been a virgin representative as the contract had been reinstated but having spoke to them and persons from the specialist team, noone could offer any more information and have no record of the deal that was offered.

Has anyone got any more information on this?

I have concerns regarding data breaches as how would the person know to call me the day after I cancelled my virgin contract? Its also a possibility that they have lost our personal information to scammers who are calling people up. In which case its only a matter of time until vulnerable people are passing across their banks details over the phone.

Im currently awaiting a call back from the complaints department.

@AdamPer

I just replied to your almost identical post on the other thread  https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Security-matters/Call-from-retention-department/m-p/4321958#M37...

I think that is 3 threads your on at the moment. I can only say it gets very confusing when people join in on multiple threads rather than just starting their own thread.

Re: Call from a mobile claiming to be virgin media loyalty team employee

Thank you for the post Joshuapodmore19.

As advised you have begun multiple posts so can we please confirm if you still require help with this?

If so, could you please confirm if the agent asked for any details?

Thanks, Emily.

Re: Call from a mobile claiming to be virgin media loyalty team employee

Thanks for getting back to me.

I was seeking information more so from other persons experiencing the same.

I will have a look at the post you have added.

I will also update when I have an answer from Virgin.

Thanks for the advice.

That's great but in the meantime you now two VM forum team members (VM employees) trying to help you on 2 different threads when they could be dealing with someone else's problem.

Re: Call from a mobile claiming to be virgin media loyalty team employee

Apologies, I did not know that would be the case. Emily may assist others as Paul VM staff has responded.

*I am only interested in responses from other customers in this thread and do not require another VM agent.*

Thanks all
