Amazon Prime Scam

automated message left on my virgin landline answer machine this morning. your amazon prime account is due to automatically renew for £79.99. If you wish to discontinue speak to the amazon service manager by pressing 1.

I did not press 1 as I have an amazon account but not the prime part. logged into my amazon account to double check. Their only advise is to report this type of phishing call to action fraud

1471 says this call was from 01340193112

Re: Amazon Prime Scam

Hi there @Blakeich

Sorry that you have had some of these known phishing/Scam calls. It seems to not be a certain ISP or customer; anyone is being targeted.

Have you registered with the TPS at all to help with unwanted calls?

You can also report them directly to Action Fraud

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Re: Amazon Prime Scam

Hello

As a side note TPS will not stop scam calls will only stop marketing calls that originate from the UK

I had the same call 2 days ago and can be sure that it was a scam.

Re: Amazon Prime Scam

A good site to keep an eye on is hoaxslayer.

They even have an article describing the latest  Amazon scam calls

The new one is about a claim that your credit card has been charged - the automated message instructs you to press “1” to organize a refund and secure your account.

Re: Amazon Prime Scam

Please try reporting the numbers as advised above this would be the best course of action to take to get the calls stopped asap.

Thanks,

Tom

Re: Amazon Prime Scam

The phone numbers used are spoofed, I’ve had 4 calls this week alone, all with different caller Id numbers.

Re: Amazon Prime Scam

HI Blakeich, the only other option is for us to change the number for you, is this something which you would be interested in doing? ^Chris.
