Sorry if we made you feel like it was a scam call - when we do call you, we will always ask you for your name and characters of your memorable word/password for security so we can confirm who we are chatting with and chat freely with you.

I just dialled the number and it does appear to be from Virgin, however it says they're closed so it could well be Sales. However I've personally never seen the number so it could well be spoofed. For reassurance you could always call 150 rom the landline or dial directly to speak to an agent who can check if it was indeed Virgin.
