sound bar and virgin box

Hey all.

I have a new Qled and have just bought a sound bar. Do I connect my Virgin Tivo box directly into the soundbar, and using my hdmi arc port on both soundbar and tv connect these up, or should I have to connect the TiVo to the tv and then the sound bar... i'm trying to get my head around it, but totally unsure which was to go?

Re: sound bar and virgin box

Hi i wire my 5.1 sound system with digital optical direct from my amp into the TV, so i guess the best thing to do is plug it which way it works for your setup and equipment. Regards Micky

Re: sound bar and virgin box

I've found that the best way is to have the sound bar connected using ARC.

All HDMI inputs to the tv will then go to the sound bar + terrestrial tv.

Also, if you program the V6 remote to control the tv volume this will also control the sound bar volume.

So that's an ARC HDMI cable from the ARC port on the tv.
Then connect the V6 to the tv directly (HDMI1 normally)

Re: sound bar and virgin box

my virgin box has an audio optical socket, so what about connecting that directly to the sound bar, virgin to the tv, and an arc (though probably not required) from the tv and soundbar? Thoughts?

Re: sound bar and virgin box

Hi as Eeeps has said if you connect from soundbar to TV you will get sound from other sources like freeview, BluRay, or a firestick. Regards Micky
