Wall socket installation turnaround times

Just joined

Hi, we have moved home in the last few days and were told by a VM sales rep that their policy was to keep to a 48hr turnaround time for installing wall sockets. When we have called to book an appointment however, there is apparently no availability for 7 days, leaving us without broadband for much longer than we expected. As we have poor phone signal in our area, we are struggling to do all the things that are needed to set up a new home including installing a wireless security system, contacting utility companies and tradespeople etc. Does anyone know if there’s a way to either get an earlier appointment or have you ever looked into arranging for a third party installation engineer? Thank you in advance.

Hi LiamWhittaker,

Thank you for reaching out to us in our community and welcome, sorry to hear your new property didn't have our internal socket so you weren't able to set the services up yourself and that the appointment wasn't as early as we would have liked.

I wasn't able to locate you with the details we have for you, were you able to get an earlier technician?

Regards

Paul.

@LiamWhittaker

Is it just the internal socket that you need? That implies that there is a Virginmedia cable already installed from the house to the road.

The socket can be installed easily, but if a cable installation is required you should be prepared for a longer wait.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

There's no such thing as a 48-hour policy for engineer appointments, you should raise a complaint so the sales rep can be 'gently encouraged' to stop lying to customers.
