My QuickStart for Hub 3 arrived. There is a virgin media wall socket in the house but there is already a cable that is wired (looks screwed in) to the socket. There is no additional slot.
if I follow the cable that’s wired in already, it ends with a cut cable
The cable with the hub is not fitting into any other sockets in the house.
is there a solution that does not require a technician appointment? Any way to get my Internet started today even if it is slower, whilst waiting for technician?

The item marked with a red box is an attenuator. These are usually fitted if you are in close proximity to an amplifier, & should not be removed. Unscrew the cable from the left hand side of the marked box & push the provided cable on (it is designed to push over the thread).

pictures not showing yet but jumping in - unscrew the cut cable and screw the cable into it that came with the hub - it might be push fit but should still fit - attach other end to hub and power up - if all is good you should get internet after a few minutes - if not post back here
