Virgin Media Internet - Very, very slow! Please help

Dear Virgin Media,

Recently it has been constantly slow and disconnecting.

Having looked at other posts, I understand that the logs are often analysed.

Please help thank you 🙂

VIRGIN MEDIA SUPER HUB 2; Up to 100mbs; Tv 'Fun' Package and also landline weekend calls I think

But I think we're getting on average 27mbs if not less.

Re: Virgin Media Internet - Very, very slow! Please help

Have you tried to see if you can snag a hub 3 ?

https://www.virginmedia.com/shop/hub-swap.html?buspart=uk_app_connect2_hubswap

Just in case yours is on it's last legs.

Re: Virgin Media Internet - Very, very slow! Please help

All your signal levels are within spec. There are some uncorrected signal errors but nothing to cause a serious reduction in download speed.

Are your measuring the speed with a wired connection or over WiFi?

Re: Virgin Media Internet - Very, very slow! Please help

Hello thank you for your reply.

I'm using a Netgear extender, attached to my ethernet cable on my laptop.

What sort of extender?

What speed do you get with a device connected directly to the Hub?

Re: Virgin Media Internet - Very, very slow! Please help

It's a WiFi Range Extender; Model No: WN3000RP

Daniel_Hopson_0-1609933264274.png

If I'm on 100mbs doesn't 9.30mbps seem very low? or is it normal to be like this? I'm a noobie with it comes to this stuff lol

Re: Virgin Media Internet - Very, very slow! Please help

Also I thought I'd mention. I'm on a computer upstairs. The ethernet cable connected to my laptop and extender is then connected to WiFi. My Superhub2 is downstairs. But my family say their connections are poor too downstairs and upstairs.

Re: Virgin Media Internet - Very, very slow! Please help

The extender can reduce your speed considerably.

You need to check the speed when connected directly to the Virgin hub.

Only the speed to the hub is guaranteed. Speed to other devices such as powerline adaptors and WiFi extenders are not.
