Virgin Media Cable

So I'd like the Virgin Media hub moved elsewhere but to do is going to be easier doing it myself. Is there a way of getting hold of some virgin media cable?

Re: Virgin Media Cable

If it is the Coax you'd need an engineer to move it as doing it yourself could introduce noise into the segment and diminish other people's broadband.

It will likely cost £99 for a no-fault call-out.

Bear in mind if you do do it yourself and it does cause issues; as per the T&Cs you'd be liable for the cost of fixing it!

Re: Virgin Media Cable

You can get Virgin media to come out but as there's no fault it will cost you around £99.

Other option is to get a third party router/mesh system and connect it via Cat5 cable and position that where you want it.

Re: Virgin Media Cable

Thanks for the swift response, on that I won't move it as I'm not paying that. Another question though, have you found it better using a different router vs the virgin media hub?

Re: Virgin Media Cable

A lot of customers will prefer that option as the hubs coverage can be somewhat low in some environments and apart from that 3rd party routers offer many more options to configure your network.

Re: Virgin Media Cable

Heck yes!!!! 🙂

The hubs are decent enough modems but pound-shop routers!!!

Much fewer headaches with your own router!!!
