Use of ntlworld cabling

I have signed-up for a fibre package and see that it requires a virgin wall box with a coax connector.  I don't have one of these.

What I do have is an (old) ntlworld cable connection box with coax connectors - but it's not where I want to locate the Virgin router.  Also, I don't really want the router close to the phone.

Does the set up fee for installation include getting a new (relocated) cable box internally?  (I am assuming that the outdoor ntlworld connection and box can be re-purposed for the Virgin connection - though am happy to be corrected on that assumption.

Re: Use of ntlworld cabling

NTL rebranded as Virgin Media when they merged with Virgin Mobile. The same wiring will be used if it is still connected & serviceable.

Make sure you opt for a manned install when you sign up so that the wiring can be changed. If you don’t you will just be sent a self-install kit. All new installs are now 21CV & require the phone connected to the hub in place of the now outdated PSTN sockets. If you want older extensions linked to the hub you can ask for this, but it may come at additional cost.

Re: Use of ntlworld cabling

If you've got an existing broadband connection, keep that going until the VM connection is in and working.  The NTL box and the cabling all the way back to the street cabinet is around 20 years old, and whilst it could all be capable of working perfectly there's no guarantee.  If you need a cable re-pulled that could take weeks or even months, during which time you'll get no accurate or useful information out of VM.
