I’ve had the new external Virgin box installed ready for my new 360 box and internet.

will they be able to install it all in the top right bedroom (one with window open)

I’d like the engineer to install the router and main 360 box upstairs in the front bedroom but the 360 mini in the living room.

can someone confirm this will be possible please

thanks

Nick

What you want to do sounds feasible.

You may want to supervise where, exactly, the VM tech runs the cables so as to avoid damaging the neat and tidy front of your house.

Yes, this can be done. The downstairs connection will also have to provide power to the external ONT (which converts the incoming fibre to coaxial cable), so you will need a spare socket. I will also warn you that VM external RG6 cabling only comes in black.

The engineer who did the pre work didn’t put the box on the wall where I wanted it, I told him I was putting everything in the room with the window open as I had to leave for work.

there is no power supply the other side of the wall where he’s installed the ONT.
will that matter ?

The ONT requires a mains power socket. It won't work without it.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

The ONT is installed at the bottom of the building. Can they connect it to a power supply in my bedroom through the wall using cables or no?

That sounds unlikely since it would need a modification to the ONT.

But do you really want two cables hanging down the outside of that wall?  There must be a better internal solution.

I don’t understand why they’d put the box there. Near no power supply and not near the corner of the house where I wanted it.

I waited in between 8-5 for them the second I left for work they turned up. Told him what I wanted on the phone.

If you are having a V360 mini box downstairs they can drive the ONT through the coax cable from the internal box installed for the downstairs outlet.

There is (or will be) an internal termination box (ITB) opposite the external box from which runs a coaxial cable with a 3-pin plug which you can plug into an extension cable. The tech will run a coaxial cable from the ITB to where your hub and mini will be. As for 360 upstairs: the best solution is probably to run the coaxial cable internally as there must be a doubt as to whether the tech will do it (or even if he does the cable may be visisble and ugly), in which case you'll need to get the ceiling and floorboards drilled for the coaxial and Ethernet cables and install a pull rope. Get an Ethernet cable installed upstairs through the hole before the tech arrives so that he can immediately get the 360 fully installed.
