Unrequested engineer visit

Came home yesterday to a "Sorry our technician missed you card" - saying a new cable to be installed in garden on ....

My online account now shows an order of TV and a technician appointment that matches the date on the note through the door.

We have not placed any orders. I've been on the phone to CS but all they could repeat was they were installing a new cable. When I queried why, they said it wasn't for our property, but they would be doing work in our garden. I asked if they were going to seek permission. After another long period on hold they told me nobody would visit and hung up sharpish, but based on the conversation I had I have no faith that I've been given the correct information.

Just to confirm: you are a broadband-only customer and nobody else in your household could have ordered TV?

We have a broadband and phone package. I am the account holder and neither me nor my partner have ordered Virgin TV

Have you reported a fault? This would explain why a new cable is needed.

Another slim possibility is that there is a SNR noise problem in your area and the technician tested your external cable and found it was in a bad condition that needed replacing.

No faults reported.

Got a text this morning "the big day is coming, you'll be connected on Friday"
