I couldn't see an appropriate board so am putting this here.
Have just received a phone call (from 01916898231) saying that my broadband would be disconnected in four hours and I needed to upgrade my router and should press 1 to speak to Virgin.
I assumed it was spam and ignored it.
Was I right to do this?

Yes you were right it is a scam, the number would have been spoofed.

Neither VM or OR work that fast, unfortunately, CityFibre maybe.
I was told I had an outstanding payment so I told them to collect it via direct debit and they were adamant I needed to make payment right then by card or be disconnected so I told them to disconnect me . They hung up.
