I have been trying to set up a 'my virgin media' account so that I can view my bills online, however whenever I try to sign up it says the details are incorrect. It only asks for the account number and area reference, both of which I have double checked are correct. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

Can we ask if you have tried registering form a different device or web browser? We would also recommend deleting all cache/cookies and history as this sometimes can cause an issues when registering for an account.
