It looks like they fitted the latest design connector but did not have the box with them. The chances of you seeing another engineer come round is very slim until you have issues with the service.
The correct box can be purchased via that link and you can tidy up yourself to look like this picture. I would also move the box so its fitted over the entry point of the black cable.
