Setting up hub 3, box flashing green, due to loose cable or external box?

Right cable seems to have been cut, is this possibly the issue resulting in no internet?

Connect your wire to the black wire. You may need an adaptor from B&Q .

that may work but why not connect the hub to the black wire first - if it works go to step 2 and get the connector

but thats a powered splitter so it needs a power supply which is what the cut wire was connected to so the question is why is it there

Perhaps a missing power connection to a fibre media converter outside?

Mundashunda, is your service from VM over fibre or coax cable? You might get an idea from the last pic's on this page

https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2019/12/identifying-bt-and-virgin-medias-uk-broadband-street-f...

which show two types of outside VM box. LHS is for coax, RHS is bigger for fibre equipment. I believe the fibre equipment needs power from inside the house which is also fed on the coax cable to the outside unit. As per this image

Might not be fibre. It might simply be that the OP is at the cabinet operating limit & has an external HDU to drive other outlets around the house. If this is the case only one of those outlets will work without the power supply connected. It will depend what outlet the former occupant nominated when it was installed.

So next question for Mundashunda, what is the black cable going through the wall connected to?

Most likely an external HDU. As per my last post, the OP will have to check any other outlets they have, as one of them should work without power.
