Second Telewest socket does not work

hope you can help me with this one.

Last Saturday, an engineer come and set up a new VM connection downstairs, Telewest socket. All works great, it's just I asked the engineer if it would be possible to also set up the connection upstairs (also Telewest socket) so he provided me with a second cable so I could connect the router later (Hub 3) myself.

I've been trying that today but unfortunately, it does not work. When I try to connect the router to the socket using the provided cable, I basically get no connection and the power button keeps flashing, no matter how long I wait.

Is there anything obvious I've missed that has to be done before connecting the router to a second socket, or it could be a faulty socket/cable?

Many thanks for your help,

Re: Second Telewest socket does not work

For both sockets to work the cable must be split with both legs going to the sockets. What is likely is that there is just one cable going to the downstairs socket, so you need a tech to come back and get the incoming cable connected to a splitter.
