Router Move

Hi everyone.

Just a quick one, my router used to be downstairs, but we moved it upstairs due to bad connection.

So picture at the moment.

Router is plugged into the wall upstairs.

Tivo boxed is downstairs and plugged into the wall.

Two different boxes.

I want to move the router back downstairs. But I only have one slot in my wall, my connections as follows.

From the wall, the cable is plugged into the Internet router (works fine)

Ethernet cable into Tivo box, no picture just saying starting up.

Do I need a wire to go into the tivo box from the wall? Like a spilter?

Hope I've made sense, thanks in advance for your help and stay safe.

Regards

Adam

Re: Router Move

To have both in one location, you would need a splitter.

You would also need to cap off the unused co-ax port.

You may also need your signal levels altered, due to the extra splitter in your configuration.

Re: Router Move

Hi, You could buy a barrel connector online.  Remove the 2 way splitter in the box on the wall outside and replace it with the barrel connector.  Then you have a splitter to use inside and there are no open ports.  Just make sure the connectors are tight to stop any issues due to loose f connectors.

Example barrel connector -  https://www.rselectricalsupplies.co.uk/satellite-f-plug-coupler_17203?gclid=CjwKCAjw_LL2BRAkEiwAv2Y3...
