Pre and Post RS Errors

Hi,

am experiencing short problems with my connection, like freezing page loadings or streaming errors. After a 7days from last router reset i found loads Pre and Post RS Errors in router status, is this might be an a issue ?

Any sugestions ?

Re: Pre and Post RS Errors

Pre and Post errors are since the hub was last power cycled, it could have been months ago (certainly for me). So to get an accurate picture, could you please power cycle your hub and then post a full set of stats and network log after a few hours.

Re: Pre and Post RS Errors

Hi SethEvans,

Thank you for your post I am sorry you are having issues with your service, I have done some remote checks and everything looks fine, could you please post a live BQM graph so we can see any dropouts

Thanks

Zoie

Re: Pre and Post RS Errors

I'd agree a BQM is a good check, but I wouldn't say everything looks fine myself.  The hub's been restarted, and it has logged about 24,000 uncorrectable errors in 48 hours which is fairly conclusive evidence of a noisy line.

SethEvans, can you post the contents of the Network log?  You'll find that where you got the Upstream and Downstream data.  Based on the problems you describe I would not be surprised if it is showing a lot of errors like T3 timeouts, RCS Partial service, and Synchronisation failures, and if that's the case then you will probably need a technician to visit.

Re: Pre and Post RS Errors

Hi SethEvans,

I've flagged this thread for the forum staff to take a further look at.  The rising error count is problem enough, and the Network log confirms my suspicions that the hub is losing connection with the VM network gear.  Usually this is upstream noise that interferes with the communication from the hub, and in that case the connection drifts "in and out of focus".  Restarting the hub is a good temporary fix, as that causes the hub to renegotiate all up and down channels, but it is only temporary - sooner or later the underlying fault will make things go bad again.  The absence of errors on the upstream is common in hub logs, even when you can see errors in the log (I guess a firmware fault?).

See what the forum staff can do.  It is also worth putting up a link to your BQM when there's 24 hours of data, as sometimes there's issues visible in a BQM that VM are cagey to admit to without the error being evidenced.

Regards

Andrew

Re: Pre and Post RS Errors

Hi SethEvans

Thanks for posting. My apologies for the broadband issues. I've taken a look at the system today and cannot see any issues, all the levels are in spec. Can you do the BQM for me after you've done a PIN reset on the router?

Kind regards,
