Phone/cable socket

Hello

I have just moved into a property with a Virgin Media phone socket attached to the wall - where you plug in a phone cable, or filter, or land-line phone. Next to it, is another 'box' with Virgin Media written on it. It is a little bigger than the socket. What is this box, please? There is no socket on this box/device for a cable or anything like that - just a plain plastic covering.

Thanks

Re: Phone/cable socket

Hello

It sounds like that is where the cable comes in probs hold a splitter. Is it right close up to the other box ?

Do you have any other faceplates with virginmedia / telewest / ntl written on, more than likely with a coaxial screw connector on.

Re: Phone/cable socket

Take its cover off and see what’s inside. Photos would be useful.

Re: Phone/cable socket

photo is approved - they take a while sometime to show - just had a look at it in the queue - the box on the right is for BB - the screw connector at the bottom should be sticking out at the bottom of the box - if its not the box is damaged - you can wedge it in the correct position or call in for a manned install and they should fit a new box

but assuming its all connected back to the cabinet you should have a connection - up to you how you want to proceed

Re: Phone/cable socket

Hello Tony

Thank for your reply.

I don't know what BB is. Can I remove the whole thing from the wall?\

Cheers

Re: Phone/cable socket

Hi why would you want to do that, the connection on the right is for virgin TV and broadband, so if you ever wanted thier services it's all there, if you find it unsightly you could put a cover on it.Regards Micky
