Old tenant preventing connection

Have just moved into a property and they cannot set us up as the old tenant still has an active account. Phoning has not been that helpful as a call back I was promised was never received and have to tell whole story again every time in phone… where are the notes?


is this something that can be resolved if they can’t contact the old tenant who I think has moved out of the country. Surely it gets cancelled eventually? I can prove I live here through tenancy agreement but not been asked for anything. Without internet in the summer holidays is pretty painful believe me.
