Nynex UG on my street

Hi

So I’ve been (awhile ago) looking to get Virgin but there’s no availability in my area.

but I’ve noticed there’s Nynex UG cable and DPs but this doesn’t fully go down my road. It’s at the start o my estate; just find it odd that the area didn’t have full installation at the time.

Are there any plans to fully complete the install?

Nynex was one of many cable companies that either merged or went bust with abandoned cable builds in the late 1990s. In some areas VM has decided to overbuild these networks with full fibre, which while expensive (the abandoned ducting has to be altered) has proved successful. There looks to be many abandoned sections near you, plus estates that were built post 1990, where the developers have decided not to install VM ducts (which are done at the builder’s expense).

Even if VM decided to infill, I think you would be in for a long wait.

I think there is little - if any - infill being done now, and fibre to these sorts of properties just won't happen. The best thing is to hope that Openreach will provide better speeds in future.
