No wall socket?

Our virgin media broadband set up kit has just arrived. We are setting it up but are unsure how to connect it into the broadband. We thought this was the wall socket but the cable doesn't fit. Do we need someone to install one or do we need an adapter or something else? Thank you

The box is the "old" phone line.   Hard to tell from the photo what the cable above is!  Where is the "other end" of it?  Should emanate from an exterior wall mounted "omnibox" - usually brown or grey.

Does the VM cable on the Hub not simply push or screw on?

Finally - you could....... Call the Pre-installation and delivery team on 0800 052 1734 and book a Tech install

I'll see if I can find the omnibox, we only moved in the other day so don't know where everything is!



 here's the omnibox. The outside is brown and it says virgin media on It so i assume it's this.


Its directly on the other side of the wall to the "socket"

You could try a coupler to join the two plugs together

Screw one end onto the cable from the wall and push fit the connecting lead on.

It's a generic part, also available from the likes of Screwfix, Toolstation, Homebase etc.

So is that wall cable the right thing, as in we can get broadband through it? It just needs the coupler

If the plug/bit of cable poking out above the telephone socket inside can be traced back outside, and is connected through, to a cable running out to the street then that would be the connection you should try using the coupler.

In any event you may still want to get a tech out to fit a proper wall box in a location of your choosing.

We bought the cable connecter and put it in however it is still not working. Any advice?
