Hi, I just moved into a new flat and bought a virgin media box with quick install as I was told by my letting agent that the previous tenant had virgin media, but I can't find the socket in the flat anywhere.
There's a brown cable that looks like the only thing that would fit, but it has no markings to indicate that it's actually virgin media. I tried to connect the red end of the white cable to it earlier but it didn't feel like it wanted to go in and I didn't want to force it.
The other ports in the house are by 'telewest' (never heard of them before) and one unnamed box in the hallway which doesn't look like it would fit.
How did the previous tenant have virgin media if there's no box?

Brown cable is a TV aerial lead.
'The box' to connect to is the LHS one, larger Telewest, in the second photo.
You can unscrew the cable that is already in there.
Alternatively find the end of the wire already in there (which looks as if it is probably going into the splitter on the floor) in photo 3 and you could try connecting there.
If you don't need the splitter to serve the other cables, but do need the fist bit of extra length cable, you may need a coupler to join two plugs together. This one is often posted on here

TeleWest is one of the companies that were merged to make VM. Please post some photos.

Thanks for your reply! The top image shows the brown cable connection that looks right but doesn't seem to want to fit.
The second image is the only broadband socket in the house (don't judge me for how grotty it looks, I'm not happy about it either).
Third image is the connections that come out of the Telewest box.

It worked! Thank you so much you're a lifesaver.
Had to go through the splitter as the cable into the socket did not want to come out, but so far it's all flashy lights like it's connecting.
