Need a technician for WIFI set up?

Hi there,
I recently had delivered a broadband package from VM with the addition of a QuickStart self installation. However, my newly-rented apartment doesn’t have a Virgin specific socket, but does have a general socket connecting a cable to the router left from the previous tenant. The left-behind cable does fit the router and WIFI is now working however am I safe to use this instead of using specific Virgin socket & Virgin cable provided in package? Worried about safety & security of the router as well as potential charges from previous internet packages for this house. Any advice welcome.

Thanks,

Martin.

You’ll be ok, lots of apartments just have a cable like that. As for security, as long as the hub sent from VM is working ok then everything is fine. That’s because the MAC address of the hub is registered with VM and that’s the only one that will work on your account.
