Moving issues

I was moving with Virgin Media. The engineer came on the moving day. He said a drop pull needs to be done. I got a new date that was 3 weeks out. I then got another message saying this needs construction. The construction team are now saying this needs 6-8weeks of time. After which it will take another 9 days to install. In short I am looking at 2 to 2.5months of wait without internet. Its very frustrating to have no internet with work from home, online classes and holiday season. 

My questions:

a) If you have faced such an issue with Virgin. When they say it takes 2months to 2.5months - does it take that long or could it be longer? 

b) They said they would send me a dongle. Then they said they dont give dongles anymore.  

Any guidance on this situation.

If the installation requires construction then it may require council planning permission which can take 6 - 8 weeks depending on the council. 

Once the planning permission is approved they then need to schedule the work in with outside contractors. 

So it could take longer, but it could be quicker too.
