Any alterations to the cabling is Virgin’s responsibility. The coax forms part of the local network & any alterations can affect the performance of not only your installation but others connected to the same cabinet. The cable Virgin use is specialised & is designed to prevent ingress from broadcast TV, radio & mobile phone services that use the same frequencies. Also alterations to your installation affect your signal levels. These can be adjusted easily, but require access to the street cabinet.
Costs to alter your setup are a fixed fee of £99. DIY alterations that mess up the local network could cost you considerably more.
